My name is Jessica/Jess/Jessy but most online folks know me as Snaps. I'm a meditation teacher, content creator, photographer and mental health / mindfulness advocate & speaker. I started streaming on Twitch in July, 2015 and it completely changed my life.
When I first joined Twitch, I was miserable. I had been battling my own mind for almost my entire life and had essentially given up. I believed that the anger I carried around daily was a part of me I'd never be free from. I suffered from panic attacks, social anxiety, severe depression, chronic pain, insomnia and ADHD.
Little did I know that joining that special place would lead me to some of the best (and g00fiest) people I've ever met, and would eventually introduce me to the world of mindfulness. (Special shoutout to Alex for being the first to introduce me to meditation.)
I began meditating January of 2018, and my life has been completely transformed in the time since then. I started out as a ragey gamer playing Destiny and other FPS games, and found myself slowly turning into someone I wouldn't have believed was possible. Working diligently on my mental health and incorporating as many mindful practices as I could into my daily routine have given me a new mindset and way to experience life that I will forever be grateful for. I'm also incredibly grateful for the way that the mindful use of psychedelics (specifically psilocybin) assisted me on my journey.
I started offering mindfulness focused one-on-one sessions in October of 2018 to help share what worked for me with others, and without intending to, entirely changed the focus of this community. After years of mindfulness and meditation practice, I also completed a two year meditation teacher training program and am now a certified meditation teacher. This training and love of mindfulness touches everything I do.
We are mindful, helpful and compassionate.
This is a cool fucking space. We are kind. We are vulgar. We get weird wit it. We are compassionate and understanding.
We don't ignore trauma, systemic oppression, or the reality that the world is burning while we're trying to heal and grow. We talk about mental health without spiritual bypassing or whitewashed wellness bullshit. You can discuss anything with us during streams — including politics — as long as you speak with clarity and kindness. No passive aggression, no "debate me" fuckery.
None of us are free until all of us are free. And that includes becoming free from the limiting thoughts and behaviors we've been conditioned to experience.
We're here for working class solidarity, for healing without pretending everything's fine, and for building a kinder world that starts with us. Also, healthy communication. We loooove communication.
You deserve to feel good. You deserve community. You belong here (and everywhere).
Join us in our calls or during live streams and say hi, we'll be delighted to get to know you.
P.S. If you come into a stream and someone asks how you're doing, you don't have to lie. We genuinely want to know. Whether we're on goofy shit and you're sad, or heavy shit and you're feeling light — you're always welcome as your full self.
TAKE UP THAT FUCKIN SPACE.
