four noble truths series - talk 11 - the sixth insight of the second noble truth continued
We wrapped up our exploration of the sixth insight of the second noble truth - recognizing when we've actually let go of clinging (versus when our minds just trick us into thinking we have). I shared some personal experiences with this process and we dove into renunciation practices that aren't about restriction, but about gently redirecting our inner "ego puppy" toward healthier patterns. We explored the five Buddhist precepts as guidelines for mindful living, plus three specific renunciation practices: letting go of needing to be right, not measuring life's success by fulfilled wants, and stepping out of being the star of your own movie. Throughout, we emphasized treating ourselves with the same patience you'd show a sweet, confused puppy - because clinging will return, and that's completely normal.
